Welcome to Stop BRMC!

Welcome to the Concerned Citizens of Broadlands “Stop BRMC!” new website and forum. If you are new to the community, let us first extend to you our warm greetings! You and your family have picked a great place to live and grow!

The purpose of this site is to keep you up to date and informed on one of the most important issues facing our homes, our families, and our neighborhood- the unwanted and unwelcome 24hr, 7-day-a-week, full-scale, 164-bed, 600 employee hospital HCA-Broadlands Regional Medical Center (BRMC). This development will bring with it, an additional 14,000 car-trips-a-day on our neighborhood streets, excessive noise, and vast pollution.

It is very important for you to know, that we have already fought and won this battle once before -- when thousands of your fellow neighbors joined together to voice their strong opposition to HCA’s application.

The county listened, and rejected HCA-Broadlands on more than a dozen different flaws in zoning and development. HCA responded by suing the county and vowing to resubmit their application to put a hospital in Broadlands. HCA’s new application will destroy the calm and peaceful atmosphere of our community. The approval of a HCA’s special exception to our highly coveted and carefully developed Communities Comprehensive Plan will allow them to begin construction on BRMC.

For over 7 years it has been our mission to inform our local members of the County Board of Supervisors, Planning Commissioners and Richmond officials that Broadlands is the wrong location for Loudoun’s next hospital. We, as the Concerned Citizens of Broadlands, must inform our Board of Directors that our community and its comprehensive plan do not permit BRMC’s approval.

We believe there are a number of places in Loudoun that are better suited for a full-service hospital, but Broadlands simply isn’t one of them! The proposed location for BRMC is inappropriate for the traffic, noise, and environmental concerns that will arise from such a development. It is our duty to see that such a monstrosity does not affect the peaceful well-preserved character our town is known for.

We are now re-energized and primed to re-engage! We hope that you will visit all areas of this site, learn the facts, discuss your concerns in our forum, and engage our elected officials in this fight. Again, welcome to Concerned Citizens of Broadlands and we look forward to your involvement in our cause.
